Unipromet has signed one of the largest contracts in the history of its business, and will be the main strategic partner in one of the largest infrastructure projects in the region, the construction of the Kičevo-Ohrid highway in North Macedonia.

This project represents a significant step in the development of transport infrastructure in the region, as well as in the further expansion of Unipromet’s business.

Project Scope and Technical Implementation

In accordance with the contract, Unipromet has taken responsibility for the delivery and installation of:

Approximately 300 kilometers of road guardrail

3 kilometers of pedestrian guardrail

The guardrails will be installed along all five sections that make up this important infrastructure route:

• Kičevo – Podviš (Section 1)
• Podviš – Preseka (Section 2)
• Preseka – Pesočani (Section 3)
• Pesočani – Trebeništa (Section 4)
• Trebeništa – Ohrid (Section 5)

The project envisages the installation of state-of-the-art protection systems in order to increase the level of traffic safety, reduce the possibility of accidents and protect all road users. Works on this major project have already started, and the planned completion of all works is by the end of 2026.

Increasing traffic safety and efficiency

The construction of the Kičevo-Ohrid highway will significantly improve the connection between the northern and southwestern parts of North Macedonia. Which will have a positive impact on traffic safety and transport efficiency. With the installation of protective fences, safety on this part of the infrastructure will be significantly increased, reducing the risk of traffic accidents.
